Beltaine, to me, is the regenerative energy that fills the land at this time
- when everything is growing at its fastest, a time when eggs hatch, animals are
born, fruit trees are pouring their energies into producing fruit, and
everything seems alive. Its a great time for having sex outdoors with your
partner, a time when new relationships are formed (usually for the sexually
promiscuous), a good time for faerie energy and magick, and, of course, the love
chase. Its a powerful energy, one that pervades even people who have otherwise
shut themselves off from being sensitive to energies. It can lift hearts out of
depression, bring joy to those who never expected to be happy, and often leaves
a trail of raw emotional energy (which can sometimes be a little difficult for
some to handle). Its a time to have fun and enjoy life, and all it has to
offer.
My most magickal Beltaine ritual was several years ago, when I was handfasted to my partner at the same time that I was the May King and my partner the May Queen. It was a powerful experience for me - being charged with God energy, meeting my partner filled with Goddess energy, sexual energy was rife, and after the ritual we ran into the bush and couldn't get each other's clothes off fast enough. It was a moment when I felt very connected with the earth, its energies, and its cycles. It was also a growing experience for me (no pun intended) =).
