I've been part of many Wiccan based rituals over the years. People write these - either basing them on the work of others, or because they were inspired. It doesn't take a lot of energy to write a ritual - you just need to have an aim, and decide how you want to achieve that aim. A ritual doesn't need to be complex to work. Some of the most powerful rituals I've done have been intuitive rituals.
Intuitive rituals have a lot going for them (I certainly recommend that pagans and witches work with intuition from time to time, rather than just someone's composed and ceremonial-like ritual - although an outline of what you want to achieve can be useful).
A simple, intuitive ritual can help you to tap into magickal energies (I say simple, as rituals don't have to be elaborate to work, its just that some people need elaborate stuff for it to work for them). These sorts of energies can open all sorts of doors, and can be a real surprise when they work!
How do you proceed in an intuitive ritual? You use your intuition - and understand that anything that happens is part of it (as an aside, any 'interruption' of a magickal working can be looked at on a magickal level - try to understand it rather than become upset or uncomfortable). In the end, its up to you as to what you want to achieve. You chose - its your path.
